The clubs at I.S. 232 provide an opportunity for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to engage in activities that align with their interests. A wide range of clubs are available, as listed below:
Origami
The Origami club allows students to learn and practice the craft of origami. Students learn how to craft origami structures and figurines by folding origami paper, while sparking their creativity. Origami not only provides opportunities for students to participate in an enjoyable and unique art form, but it also helps students develop their spatial learning by strengthening hand-eye coordination, attention, patience, sequencing, and problem-solving skills. It also provides students an opportunity to de-stress while having fun.
Art
The Art Club allows students to partake in arts and crafts activities through the collaboration with the Creative Arts Program. This club is suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced artists to strengthen and hone in on their artistic skills, develop techniques, and create works of art through engaging in project-based learning and hand-on activities.
Dance
The Dance Club provides opportunities for our students to engage in a variety of dances, learning choreography ranging from Hip-Hop, Bachata, Salsa, Dembow, and many more. This club strengthens dancing skills, and develops new dance techniques. Students are then able to showcase their talents through many of our in-school events.
Debate
The Debate Team allows our students to partake in competitive debates on integral topics. Students learn how to create factual and logical arguments to persuade others in their club, as well as the audiences and judges that their side is correct. This club provides students opportunities to voice their opinions in an organized manner and establish strong presentation skills. This club increases student confidence and teaches students to work collaboratively.
Volleyball
The Volleyball team provides students the opportunity to work collaboratively to learn the sport while providing essential social skills through team building and increased sportsmanship. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced volleyball players can join the team and take part in school volleyball games as well as staff vs. student games.
Soccer
The Soccer team provides students the opportunity to work collaboratively to learn the sport while providing essential social skills through team building and increased sportsmanship. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced soccer players can join the team and take part in school soccer games.
